Retaining walls

Retaining walls designed to be built.

Wall sections, schedules, stamped calculations and a construction sequence the contractor can follow, for new walls and for repairs of walls that have moved or failed.

Wall types

The right wall for the site.

Segmental block with geogrid

Block walls with geogrid reinforcement, with the grid length and layers scheduled for each wall height and backslope.

Soldier pile walls

Steel posts in drilled piers with lagging, for tight sites and where digging back the hill is not an option.

Tie-back walls

Walls held back with tie-back anchors where the height or the load calls for more than a cantilever.

Fabric walls

Geotextile wrapped walls for slopes and embankments.

Concrete and masonry walls

Cantilevered reinforced concrete and CMU walls, used as site walls or as foundations for buildings.

Repairs

Walls that have leaned, cracked or failed, with a replacement design and the steps to rebuild safely.

What you get

Sections, schedules and steps.

  • Wall section and a schedule of heights, embedment and reinforcement
  • Stamped calculations: sliding, overturning, bearing and global checks for each height
  • Surcharge from roads, driveways, fire apparatus and buildings above the wall
  • Drainage, backfill and compaction requirements
  • A suggested construction sequence and back cut guidance for the contractor
  • A soils report governs where there is one; we recommend a geotechnical engineer when the site calls for it
